What are the critical questions about user-centric identity and data you hope to discuss with peers at IIW?

  • The art of managing intention through relationship choices with connected services and systems and how that engages our Human Operating System (HumanOS).The Trust over IP Stacks, the controversy surrounding the W3C Verifiable Credentials Working Group's formation, Self-Sovereign Identity, and the T3 Innovation Network's interoperable learning records (LERs).
  • Interoperability
  • Interop.
  • How to give control to the user over government issued credentials.
  • The critical subjects to me right now are the interoperability place in the ecosystem and how to build it and how to market the benefits of SSI in a closed web era.
  • I am most curious if we can move beyond 'personal identity' to also think about social circles as a commons. In other words, a situation in which their is more autonomy and agency within our social circles, including policies for data sharing and privacy, and most importantly perhaps, self-governance of such social circles.
  • What political and organisational methods -- cross-industrial and trans-national -- are required to establish SSI as a universal service? What are the relevant historical precedents for the adoption of a new, universal service? What are the main impediments to SSI becoming a universal service?
  • How we can have existing identity systems and emerging ones work seamlessly together

"How can we realize user-centric identity without the necessary use of blockchain?

  • What is the smart way of combining centralized and decentralized identities?"
  • Can we & users manage distributed or evolving reputation, determined by the network and growing organically? What are today's tools that help with public & private verified credentials?
  • Interoperability
  • market fit, anchoring in real use cases, commitment to standards and interop vs siloing, what is hiding behind "governance"
  • "What are the key threats and risks to the progress of user-centric identity? How can decentralized identity interoperate with centralized systems ?"
  • account recovery
  • "Verifiable Credentials in the Enterprise Microservices context VC OIDC Interoperability"

  • "How to avoid centralization and lock-ins on every level Integration of SSI with legacy systems"
  • What will drive consumer adoption of self-sovereign ID?
  • "How can we get real about interoperability? How can we avoid conflicts between SSI and GDPR when they are supposed to be FRIENDS?"
  • Self-certifying identifiers, platform interoperability, etc.
  • How the trust hierarchy for Credential Issuers is going to come about and be supported by the Aries Protocols and Sovrin or equivalent ToIP organisational structure.
  • Securing PII information in OAuth/OIDC workflows and transactions

  • How to get to mainstream adoption.
  • "When authentication leverages face-id / touch-id (strong, simple device-based techniques), what is a scalable solution to cope with multiple, changing devices?
  • Do we have to assume each individual only has 1 primary device (1 mobile phone) at a time to prevent people sharing their credentials?"
  • Is there one size fits all? What are the main blockers you see for a global adoption of digital identity?
  • How do we develop new forms of expression, while protecting identity, but not encouraging destructive conversation through anonymity.
  • Maintain identities across disparate applications
  • How to put users in control and if "free" (of cost) solutions are the future.
  • the unimagined thinking that we need to create for those making impactful decisions on semantic risk topics such as climate in a company and how we hold *humans to account for complex judgement on poor data, but in doing so create better decisions and not more blame.
  • Giving agency to consumers who don't want take-it-or-leave-it terms and conditions.
  • The importance of user-centric agency as an essential complement to user-centric identity.

  • Accessibility of solutions
  • How we build larger connected networks/ecosystems of trusted parties
  • decentralization
  • Implement a mobile wallet in React Native.
  • The more "user centric" an identity is, the easier it is for that person to lose access to that identity- the less "user centric" it is the more likley a centralized entity can control the user and revoke *access/privledges therefore making it anti-user centric... how do we fix this problem?
